Orthopaedic Shoes

An orthopaedic shoe is a shoe that is completely tailor-made to your needs and wishes. These shoes serve to remedy or relieve foot disorders and complaints. The shoe serves as an aid and provides support to the feet, so that you can walk and function as comfortably as possible in everyday activities or at work.

Footnote : we also attach importance to the design of the shoe. So you can choose between different models, the type of material and the colour per shoe category.

How can I obtain orthopaedic shoes?

Before we can adjust, you must have a prescription from a medical specialist (orthopaedic surgeon, rheumatologist, physical doctor, etc.). A prescription from the general practitioner is not enough. The measurement is then based on a plaster print.

After this measure, the application for reimbursement can be submitted to your mutual insurance company.

After receiving approval, the production process of the fitting shoe starts. As soon as the fitting shoe fits perfectly, the model and colour of the final shoe are discussed.

Reimbursement of Orthopaedic Shoes

For orthopaedic shoes you must always pay a part of copayment (personal contribution). This amount depends on the category of your condition. We make a distinction between 4 categories:

  • Category A : severe conditions such as ankle osteoarthritis, pointed feet, club feet, forefoot amputation, …
  • Category B : disorders with absolute indication such as tilting of the big toe (hallux valgus), flat feet, hollow foot, …
  • Category C : disorders with relative indication
  • Category D : secondary disorders

Our shoe technicians can tell you the exact amounts of the reimbursement.

Below you can see some examples of our collection of orthopaedic shoes. Of course we have more models and combination options. To consult the full range, it is best to go to one of our branches or our head office in Genk.
